Before You Start

Rinse the beans, tear the kale off its stems, slice the carrot, and mince the garlic so the pot moves without pause.

How To Make It
  1. Warm a splash of the broth in a large pot over medium, about 1 minute, until it steams.
  2. Add the garlic and carrot and cook, stirring, 4 to 5 minutes, until the garlic is fragrant and the carrot starts to soften.
  3. Add the white beans, kale, and diced tomato, then pour in the rest of the broth and stir in the rosemary.
  4. Bring to a gentle boil, then lower the heat and simmer, 20 to 25 minutes, until the kale is silky and the carrot is tender.
  5. Taste, season with salt, and serve hot.
Fix It: If the stew tastes thin, mash a spoonful of the beans against the pot and stir them back in to thicken it.
Microwave
  1. Add the ingredients you would cook together to a microwave safe bowl along with their liquid.
  2. Cover loosely and microwave in one minute bursts, stirring between each, until hot through.
  3. Let it stand for a minute, then finish and plate the dish as written in the steps above.
