Before You Start

Cut the broccoli into even florets and pat the tuna dry before it goes in the pan.

How To Make It
  1. Simmer the water, tamari, rice vinegar, ginger, and garlic in a wide pan for 2 minutes until fragrant.
  2. Add the broccoli and steam covered for 6 minutes until bright green and fork tender.
  3. Stir in the chard and cook for 3 minutes until the leaves wilt and stems soften.
  4. Push the vegetables aside, lay in the tuna, and cook for 4 minutes total, turning once, until it reaches 145°F and is opaque.
    145°F
  5. Slice the tuna, plate it with the vegetables, and top with scallion.
Fix It: If the tuna cooks too fast, lower the heat so the inside reaches 145°F without drying out.
Air Fryer
  1. Heat the air fryer to 380F.
  2. Add the ingredients you would cook on the stove or in the oven in a single layer, without crowding the basket.
  3. Cook for about 16 minutes, shaking the basket halfway, until cooked through and lightly crisp.
  4. Let it rest a minute, then finish and plate the dish as written in the steps above.
Microwave
  1. Add the ingredients you would cook together to a microwave safe bowl along with their liquid.
  2. Cover loosely and microwave in one minute bursts, stirring between each, until hot through.
  3. Let it stand for a minute, then finish and plate the dish as written in the steps above.
