Before You Start

Measure the oats and about two cups of water, rinse the berries, and set the cinnamon and sesame seeds within reach.

How To Make It
  1. Add the oats and about two cups of water to a small pot and bring to a gentle simmer over medium high, 2 to 3 minutes, until the edges start to bubble.
  2. Turn the heat to medium low and cook, stirring now and then, 5 to 7 minutes, until the oats are soft and creamy.
  3. Stir in the cinnamon off the heat so it blooms without turning bitter.
  4. Top with the berries and sesame seeds and serve warm.
Fix It: If it thickens too much as it sits, loosen it with a splash of hot water and stir.
Microwave
  1. Add the ingredients you would cook together to a microwave safe bowl along with their liquid.
  2. Cover loosely and microwave in one minute bursts, stirring between each, until hot through.
  3. Let it stand for a minute, then finish and plate the dish as written in the steps above.
